A company built to serve rural communities

Beehive Broadband’s roots go back to December 10, 1963, when Korean War veteran Art Brothers founded Silver Beehive Telephone Company, named for the two states it would serve: Utah, the Beehive State, and Nevada, the Silver State. Climbing every pole and stringing every wire himself, Brothers hand-built the company’s first long-distance line, a 26-mile stretch connecting Grouse Creek and Lucin, Utah, bringing phone service to a community that had never had it before.

Today, technology looks different. Instead of telephone wires, Beehive delivers high-speed fiber internet, TV, and phone service across Utah and eastern Nevada. But the purpose has stayed the same: Beehive exists to connect people, especially in the rural and underserved areas where a strong connection can help a student finish homework, a small business serve customers, or a family access telehealth without leaving the community they love.

Investing in students and future leaders

One of the clearest ways to support a community is to invest in the next generation. Beehive does this through the Arthur Brothers Memorial Scholarship, named for its founder. In 2025, five high school students from Tooele Valley each received $1,000 through the program, which recognizes academic excellence, community involvement, and a desire to pursue higher education. That support extends beyond Utah, too. As an active member of the Nevada Telecommunications Association, Beehive contributes annual dues, fundraising, and event participation toward the organization’s statewide scholarship fund.

Beehive also shows up in classrooms. Team members have visited schools in Box Elder and Tooele Counties to teach students hands-on lessons about fiber technology and the career paths behind it, turning curious students into future engineers, technicians, and innovators.

Supporting meaningful local causes

Community commitment also means stepping in where support makes a real difference. Beehive recently sponsored the Tooele Children’s Justice Center Golf Tournament, an event that raises awareness and funds for an organization supporting children and families through difficult circumstances.

Beehive has also partnered with the Confederated Tribes of the Goshute Reservation and Sacred Circle Healthcare. In coordination with Protek Support, Beehive donated computer workstations, servers, Cisco switches, monitors, keyboards, and mice to Sacred Circle Healthcare’s facilities in Ibapah, equipping the reservation’s new daycare center and tribal library with tools to support learning and connection.

Showing up for local teams, talent, and events

Some of the most meaningful parts of community life happen at local games, town celebrations, and school events, and Beehive is proud to support many of them. In 2026, Beehive has sponsored local athletic programs across the communities it serves, including the Stansbury High School Drill Team, TC Knights 14U Comp Baseball, Deseret Peak and Grantsville High School Girls Softball, Pleasant Grove High School Baseball, and the Lehi and Stansbury High School football teams. These sponsorships help support the players, coaches, and families who bring their communities together.

Beehive has also supported local talent on a bigger stage through its sponsorship of Olympic Nordic skier Stephen Schumann as he trained for the 2026 Winter Games.

That support extends to community celebrations and charitable events, including Lake Point Days, the Lehi Round-Up Celebration, the Morgan County Fair, Mantua Little Valley Days, the Grantsville Rodeo, and several local golf tournaments benefiting community organizations and education programs. Beehive is proud to show up for the events, traditions, and causes that make each community unique.
